Testing with engine leak search spray
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552 - with cable -V.A.G 1551/3, 3A, 3B, 3C-
t  Engine leak search spray (e.g. G 001 800 A1)
Test condition
l  The coolant temperature must be at least 80 °C → Chapter display group 001, display field 2.
Test sequence
  Note
t  Because of the vacuum in the intake system the leak search spray is sucked in with the unmetered air. The leak search spray reduces the ignition performance of the mixture. This results in a drop in engine speed and a change in the lambda probe voltage.
t  You must comply with the safety instructions on the box.
–  Connect vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-. Start engine and select address word 01 “Engine electronics” → Chapter.
–  Select function 08 “Read measured value block” and display group 033.

–  Observe the control value in display field 1.
–  Systematically spray parts of the intake system with engine leak search spray.
If the engine speed drops or if the control values changes:
–  Check the sprayed location of the intake system for leaks and if necessary eliminate the fault.
If the engine speed or control value does not change:
–  Select function 06 “End output” and switch ignition off.

Reading measured value block 33 ->
 2.0% 0.462V
