Removing and installing fuel delivery unit

Observe safety measures → Chapter.
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Wrench for union nut -MP 1-227-
Conditions
l  The fuel tank must not be more than 3/4 full.
l  Ignition is switched off and ignition key is withdrawn.
Removing
   
–  Press off cover -1- (below rear seat), rubber cap -2- may remain fitted.
–  Remove feed line (black) -5- and return-flow line (blue) -4- from the flange of the sender unit. To do so press the release buttons.
–  Disconnect plug -3- and pull off from flange of fuel delivery unit/sender unit.

–  Unscrew union nut with wrench -MP 1-227-.
–  Pull the fuel delivery unit and the gasket ring out of the opening of the fuel tank.
  Note
If the fuel delivery unit is still filled with fuel, empty before replacing.
Install
Installation occurs in reverse order. Pay attention to the following:

t  When inserting the fuel delivery unit, ensure that the sender is not bent.
t  Moisten the seal of the flange with fuel before fitting.
t  Make sure the fuel hoses fit tightly.

check fitting position:
t  The marking on the flange must be aligned with marking on the fuel tank -arrows-.
t  (Black) feed line -1- to connection marked -V-.
t  (Blue) return-flow line -2- to connection marked -R-.
