Connecting up the vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552 and selecting the control unit for engine electronics
Connecting up the vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- and selecting the control unit for engine electronics
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3, 3A, 3B, 3C-
Test conditions
l  Battery voltage at least 11.5 volts
l  Earth connection to engine and gearbox O.K.
l  Fuses must be OK in compliance with the current flow diagram.
Procedure
   
–  Connect up the vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- using the appropriate diagnostic cables.
–  Switch on ignition or start → Chapter engine depending on the function desired.
  Note
t  If the readout which appears in display does not match the procedure → Operating instructions for vehicle system tester.
t  If because of an input error “data transfer fault” is displayed, remove the cable from the vehicle system tester, re-connect and repeat the steps.
–  Press 0 and 1 for the address word “engine electronics” and confirm with Q.

The vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- displays the control unit identifications, e. g.:
t  03D906032A = part no. of the control unit (for current control unit version see spare parts catalogue)
t  1.2l /2V= displacement of engine and number of valves per cylinder
t  SIMOS 3 = system designation
t  CC = Cruise control system activated (only on vehicles with cruise control system)
t  00 = number of set adaptation channels
t  HS = manual gearbox
t  4726 = software number
t  Coding 00061 = coding of the control unit
t  WSC XXXXX = workshop code from -V.A.G 1552 - with which the last coding was performed (WSC 00000 appears provided the factory-entered coding has not been changed)
–  Press twice.
