Readiness code
Readiness code
Operation
The readiness code is an 8-digit numerical code which indicates the status of the emission-relevant diagnoses.
If the diagnosis for a system (e.g. catalytic converter checking) has been successful the relevant position of the readiness code is set from 1 to 0.
This diagnosis is also undertaken during normal operation of the vehicle when the conditions for initiating a specific diagnostic function (engine speed, loading, etc.) are fulfilled. If repairs have been completed on a system which effect the exhaust system then it is recommended to activate the diagnostic function (to generate the readiness code) in order to check whether the system is working perfectly. If a fault is detected during the diagnosis it is entered in the fault memory.
The readiness code will be deleted through deletion of the fault memory or though interruption of the power supply, this means that all relevant points will be set to 1.
Generation of the readiness code means to activate the diagnostic functions such as knocking sensor diagnosis, diagnosis of the lamda probe before the catalytic converter, etc.
