Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3, 3A, 3B oder 3C-
Procedure
–  Enter the control unit identification and thus also the coding of the previous control unit as follows:
–  Connect vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-. Switch ignition on and select address word 01 “Engine electronics” → Chapter.
   
The control unit identification number and the coding are shown on the display, e.g.:
–  Select function 06 “End output” and switch ignition off.
Remove air filter → Chapter.

–  Release the plug locks and unplug control unit connectors -arrow-.
  S10-0111
–  Press open the latches of the fixture -arrows A- and pull the engine control unit forward -arrow B-.
–  Release the second plug lock and unplug the control unit connector.
–  Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
  Note
t  Check current coding and code new control unit → Chapter.
t  Adapt new control unit to the electronic immobiliser → Electrical System; Rep. Gr.90.
t  Adapt engine control unit to throttle valve control unit → Chapter.
t  Activate CCS → Chapter.
t  Test idling speed → Chapter, Display group 001, display field 1.
t  Interrogate fault memory, rectify any faults and erase the fault memory → Chapter.
t  Generate readiness code → Chapter.
