Setting the shift mechanism
Setting the shift mechanism
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Rig pin -T10027-
  Note
t  The following are required for correct setting of the shift mechanism:
t  Operating and transmission elements of the shift mechanism are in perfect condition.
t  Shift mechanism operates freely.
t  Gearbox, clutch and clutch control must be in perfect condition.
l  Gearbox in Neutral.
–  Remove the intake pipe from the air filter → 1.0/37; 1.4/50 Engine, Fuel Injection ; Rep. Gr.24.
   
–  Pull forward the locking mechanism at shift cable and at selector cable as far as the stop -arrow 1-, then lock by turning to the left -arrow 2-.
Lock the shift shaft as follows:
  S34-0391
–  Press the shift shaft down -direction of arrow 1-.
–  When pressing down the gearshift shaft turn angle lever -A- in -the direction of the arrow 2-.

–  Lever the collar upwards and out of centre console surround -arrows-.
–  Guide shift lever in Neutral to the left into the 1st/2nd gear gate.

–  Insert rig pin -T10027- through hole -A- into hole -B-.

–  Now turn the locking mechanism at the shift cable and at the selector cable to the right as far as the stop -direction of the arrow-.
The spring pushes the locking mechanism into the initial position.

–  Now turn the angle lever -A- back to the initial position -in direction of arrow-.
  S34-0394
–  Pull rig pin -T10027- out of hole -A- and -B-.
–  Fit collar into the surround for centre console.
