Crankshaft - Summary of components
  Note
t  Before removing the crankshaft, ensure a suitable place is available for placing it down so that the sensor rotor ( → Chapter Pos. 5)) does not rest against anything or get damaged.
t  Before assembly moisten all bearing and contact surfaces with oil.

1 - Bearing shells 1, 2 and 4
q   for bearing cap without lubricating groove
q   for cylinder block with lubricating groove
q   do not mix up used bearing shells (mark)
2 - 65 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn)
q   replace
3 - Bearing caps
q   Bearing cap 1: on belt pulley side
q   retaining lugs of the bearing shells of the cylinder block/bearing cap must be on top of one another
4 - Bearing shell 3
q   for bearing cap without lubricating groove
q   for cylinder block with lubricating groove
5 - Rotor
q   for engine speed sender -G28-
q   replace if damaged
q   removing and installing → Fig.
6 - 10 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn)
q   replace
7 - Fit pin
q   Checking projection from crankshaft → Fig.
8 - Crankshaft
q   Ø Crankshaft bearing pin: 54.00 mm
q   Ø Conrod bearing pin: 47.80 mm
q   Axial play when new: 0.07...0.17 mm
   Wear limit: 0.37 mm
9 - Thrust washer
q   for cylinder block, bearing 3

Checking projection of fit pin from crankshaft
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Depth gauge
Test sequence
–  Use depth gauge to inspect projection -a- of dowel pin when rotor -1- is removed.
1 - Rotor
2 - Fixing screw
3 - Projection of the fit pin -3- from crankshaft a = ∼2.5...3.0 mm
  V13-1201
Removing and installing sensor rotor
–  Always replace the sensor rotor -2- each time the bolts -1- are slackened.
Tightening torque: 10 Nm + 90° (1/4 turn)
  Note
After being attached a second time, the attachment point of the recess head screws in the sensor rotor is sufficiently misshapen that the bolt heads rest against crankshaft -3--arrows- and the sensor rotor is positioned loosely below the screws.
