Replacing middle or rear silencer
Replacing middle or rear silencer
t  A separation point is provided at the exhaust pipe for replacing the middle silencer or the rear silencer.
t  The separation point is marked by indentations on the circumference of the exhaust pipe.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Body saw, e.g. -V.A.G 1523 A-
t  Protective goggles
  WARNING
Wear safety goggles.
   
–  Separate exhaust pipe at right angles at the separation point -arrow 2-.
–  When installing, position rear double clamp -4- at the side markings -arrow 1- and -arrow 3-.

–  Turn the rear double clamp in such a way that the ends of the screws do not protrude beyond the bottom edge of the double clamp -arrow-.
–  Align the rear silencer horizontally and tighten the rear double clamp to 23 Nm.
–  Align exhaust system in cold condition free of stress → Chapter.
