Accident with deployment of airbag
The following parts should always be replaced with new original parts:
t  Central control unit for the airbag system VW 51 1)* and VW 61 2)*
t  Driver airbag unit 3)*
t  Passenger airbag unit 3)*
t  Driver side airbag unit 3)*
t  Passenger side airbag unit 3)*
t  Seat cover 4)*
t  Driver head airbag unit 3)*
t  Passenger head airbag unit 3)*
t  Trim panel of top pillar B 5)*
t  Trim panel of top pillar C 5)*
t  Moulded headliner 5)*
t  Restoring ring with slip ring 6)*
t  Driver seat belt tensioner with seat belt 3)*
t  Passenger seat belt tensioner with seat belt 3)*
1)* In the event of ignition of the front airbag units and seat belt tensioner.
2)* In the event of ignition of the side airbag unit or the head airbag unit and belt tensioner, the control unit may again be used - up to three times (only if ignition of the front airbag units does not occur) In the event of ignition of the front airbag units, it must be replaced.
3)* In the event of ignition.
4)* In the event of ignition of the side airbag unit.
5)* In the event of ignition of the head airbag unit.
6)* In the event of ignition of the driver airbag unit.
Replace all damaged parts if necessary (visual inspection) with new original parts.
If the airbag control unit and other damaged parts are replaced it is necessary to code the control unit again.
Accident without deployment of airbag unit
t  There is no need to replace any parts of the airbag system if the airbag warning light (K75) does not signal any fault and if no parts of the airbag system are damaged. Pay special attention to examining the seat belts.
Registering parts of the airbag system
If a part of the airbag system is to be replaced using original parts the self-adhesive labels with the number should be removed, placed on registration card ET no. 000 010 100 A and sent in for registration to the customer service network (domestic) or the importer (in the case of other countries):
t  Central control unit for the airbag system
t  Driver airbag unit
t  Passenger-side airbag unit
t  The side airbag unit on the driver's side with the seat cover
t  The side airbag unit on the front passenger's side with the seat cover
t  Crash sensors for side airbag on the driver's side.
t  Crash sensors for side airbag on the front passenger's side
t  The head airbag unit on the driver's side
t  The head airbag unit on the front passenger's side
t  Ceiling for the head airbag
