For vehicles with side airbag unit and seat heating
  WARNING
Observe the safety instructions for working with airbags → Chapter.
Only use the recommended cover with a sewn on identification label for installation purposes.
When installing observe the position of the cover - the identification label must be on the side of the airbag unit.
   
1 - Headrest guides
q   Removing:
–  Press safety catch -arrow-, e.g. with a specially adapted screwdriver and remove the guides.
q   Installing:
–  Clip guide downwards into the backrest rack.
2 - Backrest rack
3 - Longitudinal wire of the backrest rack
4 - Transverse wire of the backrest rack
5 - Airbag unit (depending upon vehicle equipment)
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
6 - El. wire of the airbag unit
7 - Terminal el. wire airbag
8 - Foam padding wire of backrest rack
9 - Retaining clips
q   When removing cut through with pliers
q   To install use upholstery pliers, e.g. -V.A.G 1634-, -V.A.G 1634-.
10 - El. wire of heating element (depending upon vehicle equipment)
11 - Heating element (depending upon vehicle equipment)
12 - Cover
q   Removing:
–  Remove headrests.
–  Remove the backrest rack from the seat rack → Chapter.
–  Remove headrest guides (Pos. 1).
–  Fully unhook clamping (Pos. 14) at the bottom cover side.
–  Remove cover up to approx. 1/4.
–  Remove dummy plugs from the holes in the bottom section of the backrest and unhook the longitudinal wires of the backrest rack (Pos. 3).
–  Cut through the retaining clips (Pos. 9).
–  Draw the heating cable (Pos. 10) through the cover.
–  Unhook tensioning elastics.
–  Roll up cover.
–  Cut through the second row of retaining clips (Pos. 9).
–  Unhook the transverse wire of the backrest rack (Pos. 4) on the rear side of the backrest.
–  Section the longitudinal wire retaining clips of the backrest (Pos. 3).
–  Unhook the longitudinal wire on the rear side of the backrest and pull through to the front.
–  Roll up cover and section the longitudinal wire retaining clips.
–  Remove cover from backrest.
q   Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
  Note
Make sure that the cover is correctly taken out.
13 - Plastic cord
q   Sewn with cover -12-.
q   With holes for inserting retaining clips -9-.
14 - Clamping section of cover
q   Sewn to cover
15 - Foam padding
q   Removing:
–  Remove cover (Pos. 12).
–  Remove foam padding from backrest rack.
q   Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
