Removing and installing panoramic roof   Note The cut-out panoramic roof can be re-used after a thorough inspection.   WARNING Wear protective goggles and gloves when cutting hardened PUR adhesive cement and when working with window and cutting cord.   Note A second mechanic is required for removing and installing. Special tools and workshop equipment required t  Separating device for glued windows (set) -V.A.G 1474/A-. t  Straightening knife e.g. -SB - 531- or glass scraper -SC - 170-. t  Cutting tool e.g. -V.A.G 1351-. t  Piercing needle e.g. -V.A.G 1474/2-. t  Cutting cord e.g. -357 845 955-. t  Cup suction tool e.g. -V.A.G 1344-. t  Cartridge heating box e.g. -V.A.G 1939A-. t  Compressed air pistol, e.g. -V.A.S 5237-. t  Electrical cutting tool e.g. -V.A.G 1561/A- or pneumatic cutting tool e. g. -VAS 5177- .

1K Window glue (PUR)	-DH 009 100-1), 2)	Strong glueing of the windscreen, rear and side windows and panoramic roof.	300 ml filling
Activator	-D 181 801 A1-	Activates the previously sectioned original layer.
Applicator	-D 009 500 25-	Apply primer and activator.
Primer for windows and painted surfaces.	-D 009 200 02-	Priming the windows. Must be applied to window. Is applied to paint before applying glue and sealant (PUR).
Cleaning solution	-D 009 401 04-	For cleaning all surfaces to which primer or glue is applied.
Glue remover	-D 002 000 10-	Removes glue residues	Must not be used on glued surfaces before glueing.

1) Observe waiting time .

2) According to manufacturer's instructions heat up with cartridge heater e.g V.A.G 1939.

Removing: –  Remove the moulded headliner → Chapter.

Removing roof roller (front and rear): –  Removing fixing screws for roof roller -4-. –  Remove stop buffer from the roof drip moulding -1-. –  Push roller out of the holding strip -2-. –  Unhook roller from the holder. –  Remove roof rollers -3-.

Remove longitudinal roof drip moulding: –  Unclip roof drip moulding -1- from the holders -3- glued onto the window -5- with adhesive cement -4-. –  The strip can only be unclipped from the outside (from the roof centre - see strip profile -1-). –  Proceed from rear of roof to front of roof.

Cut out panoramic roof with cutting cord: –  Cover the painted surfaces along the window -2- with textile adhesive tape or protective film e.g. -V.A.G 1474/7-. –  Pierce adhesive cement with piercing needle in the corner. –  Pull through cutting cord and fasten the ends in the holders -1-. –  Cut through adhesive cement around the window -2- in steps. –  Remove window with the aid of suction cups.

Cut out panoramic roof with electrical or pneumatic cutting tool: –  Cover the painted surfaces along the window with adhesive tape or protective film e.g. -V.A.G 1474/7-. –  Cut through adhesive cement in steps with cutting tool or suitable knife. –  Proceed from one corner to the other corner. –  Maintain the same position of the cutting tool in such a way that the knife does not break off.

–  Use cutting knife e.g. -2-, dimension a = 27 mm for longitudinal cuts. –  Use cutting knife e.g. -4-, dimension b = 36 mm for cross section cuts (front panoramic roof). –  Use cutting knife e.g. -4-, dimension b = 24 mm for cross section cuts (rear panoramic roof). –  Remove glue residues from flange and window with glass scraper e.g. -3--3-. –  Remove window with the aid of suction cups. Install panoramic roof: –  Prepare flange and window for panoramic roof → Chapter. –  Glue on new stop buffer → Item. –  Glue on new longitudinal seal → Item and front transverse seal → Item. –  Glueing on → Chapter. –  Waiting time → Chapter. –  Installing roof drip moulding → Item.
