Removing and installing the piston of the brake caliper FN 3 Special tools and workshop equipment required t  Disassembly wedge -3409- t  Piston jig -T10145- t  Assembly device -T10146/6- Removing: –  Press the piston out of the brake caliper using compressed air.

–  Insert wooden plate so that the piston is not damaged.

–  Lever off collar from brake caliper using the disassembly wedge -3409-.

–  Remove gasket ring with disassembly wedge -3409-.   Note When removing, make sure that the cylinder surface is not damaged. Installing: –  Clean piston and gasket ring with white spirits and dry off. –  Before installing the piston and gasket ring thinly coat with lithium grease -G 052 150 A2-. –  Insert gasket ring into the brake caliper.

–  Insert the collar -A- on the assembly tool -T10146/6--1-.

–  Press the collar with the assembly tool-1- and the piston resetting jig-2- onto the brake caliper in such a way that it is resting all around the brake caliper.

–  Check fitting of the collar.   Note The collar should no longer be removable by hand from the brake caliper.

–  Lightly press the piston onto the collar and interlock in this position, e.g. with the disassembly wedge-2-.   Note Do not tilt the piston, in order to avoid damage to the collar. –  Blow up the collar with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa) -1-. At the same time the collar jumps onto the piston.

–  Press the piston with the piston jig-1- into the brake caliper. The outer sealing lip of the collar will engage in the piston groove.
