  Note
t  Welding and straightening on axle body and axle studs not allowed.
t  Always replace the self-locking nuts and screws.
t  Pipe screws of brake lines are tightened to 14 Nm.
1 - Wheel bolt
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
q   Tightening torque → Chapter
2 - Screw, 4 Nm
3 - Brake disc
q   Assignment, dimensions and wear limit → Chapter
q   always replace axle-wise
4 - Cap
q   replace after each removal
q   removing and installing → Chapter
5 - Self-locking twelve-point nut 70 Nm +40°
q   replace after each removal
6 - Wheel hub with wheel bearing
q   Sensor ring for ABS is an integral part of the wheel hub ⇒ cannot be replaced individually
q   Wheel hub and wheel bearing form one unit ⇒ must be replaced completely
q   this component is maintenance-free and requires no clearance adjustment; adjustment as well as repair work are not possible
q   removing and installing → Chapter
7 - Screw, 30 Nm + 90°
q   replace after each removal
8 - Cover plate
9 - Holder for hand-brake cable
q   replace
10 - Hand-brake cable
11 - Screw, 45 + 90°
q   replace after each removal
q   insert from the inside of the vehicle
q   when tightening the screw, the axle body must be in the unladen condition (unladen weight position) → Chapter
12 - Self-locking screw, 30 Nm + 90°
q   replace after each removal
q   if thread of the weld nut is damaged, it can be repaired using Heli-Coli threaded insert; while paying attention to the notes of the manufacturer
q   the rework of the thread for the weld nut is permissible on maximum 2 screw points per vehicle side
13 - Self-locking nut
q   replace after each removal
14 - Mount for rear axle
q   check the overall track of the rear axle after installation and adjust if necessary
q   avoid slackening in order to remove the rear axle
15 - Holder for hand-brake cable
16 - Rubber-metal bearing
q   removing and installing → Chapter
17 - ABS wheel speed sensor
18 - Screw, 8 Nm
19 - Axle body
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   The locating face and the threaded holes for axle studs must be free from enamel and dirt
20 - bottom base
q   check for damage
21 - Coil spring
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   check for paint damage, if necessary eliminate paint damage
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
q   always replace axle-wise
q   per rear axle only use helical springs of the same make
22 - top base
q   installing → Chapter
23 - Screw, 40 Nm + 90°
q   replace after each removal
q   insert from the inside of the vehicle
q   when tightening, the vehicle must be in the unladen condition (unladen weight position) → Chapter
   This operation can be skipped if the shock absorber with rear suspension has already been assembled → Chapter
24 - Self-locking screw, 30 Nm + 90°
q   replace after each removal
q   if thread of the weld nut is damaged, it can be repaired using Heli-Coli threaded insert; while paying attention to the notes of the manufacturer
q   the rework of the thread for the weld nut is permissible on maximum 2 screw points per vehicle side
25 - Shock absorber
q   can be replaced separately
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
q   Inspecting the shock absorber → Chapter
q   disposing of → Chapter
q   per rear axle only use shock absorbers of the same make
  Note
Shock absorbers are not to be repaired.
26 - Self-locking nut
q   replace after each removal
27 - Axle stud
q   Straightening work is not allowed!
q   Re-cutting the thread is not allowed!
28 - Protection against stones
29 - Fixing element for protection against stones
q   Protection against stones included in the scope of delivery
30 - Brake line
31 - Screw, 30 Nm + 30°
q   replace after each removal
32 - Brake caliper
q   repairing → Chapter
