Removing engine pump aggregate TRW
  Note
Because of the different dimensions of the battery the screw cap of the hydraulic oil reservoir on certain vehicle versions is concealed by the battery tray and battery. If this is the case remove the air filter, the battery and the battery tray.
–  Disconnect battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
t  If necessary remove air filter → Engine; Rep. gr.24 (petrol engines) or → Engine; Rep. gr.23 (diesel engines).
t  Then if necessary, remove battery and battery tray → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.

–  Unscrew the screwed lid -1- for the hydraulic oil reservoir -2- of the engine pump aggregate.
–  Extract the hydraulic oil with an extraction bottle via the filler neck.
–  Remove front left wheel.
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work; Rep. gr.50.
–  Remove the left wheelhouse liner → Body Work; Rep. gr.66.

Vehicles with radiator fan control unit -J293-
–  Disconnect plugs -1- and -2- at the radiator fan control unit -J293--4-.
–  Unscrew nuts -3-.
–  Remove radiator fan control unit-4-.
Continued for all vehicles
  S48-0305
–  Open spacer holder -1- and remove pressure line (expansion hose) -3-, return line -2- and the line from the power-steering sensor -G250-.
–  Position the catch pan under the engine pump aggregate.
  S48-0141
–  Disconnect plugs -1-, -2- and -3- from the engine pump aggregate -4-.
1 - Data BUS plug and terminal 15
2 - Earth plug and terminal 30
3 - Plug of power-steering sensor -G250-
  Note
t  Residual hydraulic oil remains in the engine pump aggregate. When removing the pressure line some of this residual amount will flow out.
t  When tying up the hydraulic line make sure the bending radius of 100 mm is reached.
  N48-0622
–  Open spring strap clamp -1- at the return line (return hose) and carefully pull off return line from the support of the reservoir for engine pump aggregate -3-.
–  Close off return line and support of reservoir to protect against dirt with a plastic bag and with adhesive tape.
–  Unscrew the pressure line (expansion hose) -2- from the engine pump aggregate -3- and tie up.
–  Shut off the threaded bore for pressure line -2- at engine pump aggregate with plastic screw plug.
–  Close off the pressure line -2- with a plastic bag and secure with adhesive tape.
–  Release screws -arrows-.
–  Take out engine pump aggregate -2- with bracket -4- downwards.
