Special tools and workshop equipment required

Hand vacuum pump, e.g. -VAS 6213- or -V.A.G 1390-
Test sequence
–
Lift the engine cover at the sides
-arrows A-
and pull out towards the front
-arrow B-
.
–
Disconnect vacuum hose from mechanical exhaust-gas recirculation valve.
–
Connect hand vacuum pump -V.A.S 6213- or -V.A.G 1390- to valve and operate.
–
Detach hose of hand vacuum pump from mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve.

Closing of the valve should be clearly audible.
