Removing
Removing
–  Remove air filter → Chapter.
–  Unscrew vacuum regulating valve (PCV valve).
   
–  Detach vent line -1-. To do so press the securing ring.
–  Disconnect ventilation hose -2- to the intake manifold at the activated charcoal filter.
–  Remove activated charcoal filter and bracket.
–  Remove the expansion reservoir and lay it to one side.
   Coolant hoses remain connected.
–  Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Remove the front right wheelhouse liner → Body Work; Rep. Gr.66.
–  Remove V-ribbed belt → Chapter.
On vehicles with air conditioning
–  Remove AC compressor with the refrigerant lines connected from the bracket → Chapter.
   Observe instructions for assembly work on the air-conditioning system → Chapter.
–  Remove holder for tensioning device and V-ribbed belt-guide pulley
On vehicles without air conditioning
–  Remove ribbed V-belt tensioning device.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Remove alternator → Electrical System; Rep. Gr.27.
–  Remove belt pulley for control pump → Chapter.

–  Remove crankshaft belt pulley.
   Counterhold belt pulley with counterholder -T30004- with bolt -T30004/1-.
–  Removing the oil pan → Chapter.
  S13-0409
–  Fit supporting device -MP9-200 (10-222A)-.
–  Raise engine slightly via spindle -B-, allow spindle -A- to hang loosely.
On vehicles with assembly bracket version 1
  S13-0677
–  Screw out screws -arrows- and remove engine mount.
On vehicles with assembly bracket version 2
  S10-0380
–  Unscrew nut -3- and disconnect earth lead from engine mount.
–  Release screws -2 and 1- and remove engine mounting.
For all vehicles
  S10-0452
–  Release the Allen screws of the control unit and the screws marked with the -arrows-.
–  Remove timing case.
  Note
Make sure that the bushing remains in the gasket ring of the timing case.
–  Remove gasket of timing case.
