Fuel system - Summary of components
  Caution
In order to avoid the high pressure pump to run dry and to achieve a quick engine start after parts are replaced, the following points must be observed:
t  If the high pressure pump is removed or replaced, the initial fuel filling of the high pressure pump must be carried out before the first engine start. For this purpose, connect the vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS 505x- and carry out the targeted function „bleeding the fuel system“. During this function, the fuel pump is actuated for 180 seconds.
t  If the high pressure system was opened, it must be checked for tightness → Chapter.
1 - Fuel return-flow lines
q   to fuel tank
q   Fuel return-flow lines must not be kinked, damaged or blocked
q   Fuel return-flow lines must not be disassembled
q   The pressure holding valve has the task to always hold a remaining pressure (control quantity) in the fuel return-flow lines
q   The piezo injectors require this control quantity for their function
q   Check the pressure holding valve → Chapter.
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
2 - Fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-, 80 Nm
q   not reusable
q   check → Chapter
q   removing and installing → Chapter
3 - Fuel return-flow lines
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
4 - 10 Nm
5 - High pressure pump
q   removing and installing:
t  Fabia II, Roomster, Rapid → Chapter
t  Octavia II, Superb II, Yeti → Chapter
q   Pressure test → Chapter
q   Check return flow quantity → Chapter
q   with fuel dosage valve -N290-
q   an initial fuel filling must be carried out after the replacement (absolutely avoid it to run dry) → Vehicle diagnostic tester
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
6 - 20 Nm + torque a further 180° (1/2 turn)
7 - Hub
q   with transmitter ring
q   to release and tighten use counterholder -T10051-
q   to remove use extractor -T40064-
8 - 95 Nm
9 - Timing belt gear - high pressure pump
q   20 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/2 turn)
10 - 20 Nm + torque a further 45° (1/8 turn)
11 - 10 Nm
12 - High pressure line, 28 Nm
q   between the high pressure pump and the fuel distributor
q   do not install under tension
q   installing → Chapter
  Note
t  The high pressure line can be re-used after the following tests:
t  Check the sealing cone of the high pressure line for deformations and cracks.
t  The line borings must not be deformed, constricted or damaged.
t  Corroded lines must no longer be used.
13 - Fuel pressure sender -G247-, 100 Nm
q   removing and installing → Chapter
14 - Fuel distributor
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
15 - 22 Nm
16 - High pressure lines, 28 Nm
q   between fuel distributor and injection units
q   do not interchange
q   install free of stress
q   installing → Chapter
  Note
t  Pay attention to the cylinder specific marking when re-using the high pressure lines.
t  The high pressure line can be re-used after the following tests:
t  Check the sealing cone of the high pressure line for deformations and cracks.
t  The line borings must not be deformed, constricted or damaged.
t  Corroded lines must no longer be used.
17 - Gasket
q   replace
18 - Gasket
19 - Injection units (piezo injectors)
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Check return flow quantity → Chapter
q   Testing the vacuum → Chapter
q   The following components and gaskets or O-rings must be replaced each time when removing and installing: copper disc, O-ring of injection channel, O-ring of injector return flow, screw for clamping claw
q   The following components and gaskets or O-rings must be replaced when replacing an injector: clamping claw, copper disc, O-ring of injection channel, O-ring of injector return flow, screw for clamping claw
q   Before re-using the „high pressure line“, carry out a visual inspection of the sealing cones for damage such as cross chamfers and corrosion, always replace if damaged
q   Removed injection units (piezo injectors), high pressure lines and clamping claws, which are re-installed, may only be mounted again at the same point (cylinder)
20 - Screw for clamping claw
q   replace
first of all tighten the fixing screws to MAX: 1 - 2 Nm
after installing the high pressure lines, tighten to 8 Nm + torque a further 180° (1/2 turn)
21 - O-ring
q   replace during each removal and installation of the fuel return-flow line
q   if damaged
