Align the engine/gearbox unit > < Removing

  Note
t  Always replace the seals and gaskets during assembly work.
t  Always replace self-locking nuts.
t  Apply hot screw paste -G 052 112 A3- to the pin screws on the exhaust manifold.
t  Aligning unit mounting for engine and gearbox → Chapter.
t  Tightening torques → Chapter.
t  Assembly bracket → Chapter.
Procedure
Installation is performed in the reverse order. Pay attention to the following points:
–  Clean splines of drive shaft and apply a thin film of grease -G 000 100-.
–  If the gearbox is flange mounted, ensure the intermediate plate is correctly installed.
–  Check whether the dowel sleeves for centering the engine/gearbox are present in the cylinder block; insert if necessary.
   
–  Position supporting device -MP 9-200- at the same point as for the removal.
–  When installing the engine/gearbox unit make sure all adjoining components are clear.
–  Align the engine/gearbox unit → Chapter.
–  Install shift mechanism → 5-Speed Manual Gearbox 002 → Rep. Gr.34.
–  Adjust shift mechanism → 5-Speed Manual Gearbox 002 → Rep. Gr.34.
–  Install drive shafts → Chassis → Rep. Gr.40.
–  Install front exhaust system and align exhaust system free of stress → Chapter.
  Note
Avoid a large deflection of the decoupling element at the front exhaust pipe (max. 10°).
–  Install vane pump for the power-assisted steering → Chassis → Rep. Gr.48.
–  Install the V-ribbed belt.
–  Install coolant hose → Chapter.
  Note
The drained off coolant must only be re-used if the cylinder block, cylinder head, radiator or heat exchanger were not replaced.
–  Filling system with coolant → Chapter.
–  Check oil level before starting the engine.
–  Electrical connections and proper routing → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
After connecting the battery:
–  Code radio.
–  Set clock.
–  Initialise power window lifter → Octavia .
–  Carry out adaptation of the throttle valve control unit → 1.4 ltr./44kW Engine - Fuel Injection → Rep. Gr.24.
–  Perform a test drive, interrogate fault memory and delete it → 1.4 ltr./44kW Engine - Fuel Injection → Rep. Gr.01.
