Removing and installing cylinder head

Test compression pressure → Chapter
  Note
t  Removing and installing intake manifold → 1.4 ltr./44 kW engine - fuel Injection → Rep. Gr.24.
t  Removing and installing exhaust manifold → Chapter.
t  If the cylinder head is replaced, the system must be completely filled with fresh coolant.
1 - 3 Nm
2 - Seal
–  replace
3 - Cylinder head bolt
–  observe the mounting instructions and sequence for loosening and tightening → Chapter
–  moisten thread with oil before inserting
4 - Washer
–  not for all cylinder head bolts → Chapter
5 - Left lifting eye
6 - Rocker arm shaft
–  Removing and installing rocker arms → Chapter
–  Basic setting of the hydraulic valve clearance compensation → Chapter
7 - Support
–  for ignition terminal
8 - Washer
–  as of 03.01
9 - 23 Nm
–  do not tighten fully until cylinder head bolts have been tightened
10 - 20 Nm
–  self-locking, replace
–  do not tighten fully until cylinder head bolts have been tightened
11 - 20 Nm
–  coat with -AMV 105 500- (Loctite 242) before screwing in
–  do not tighten fully until cylinder head bolts have been tightened
12 - Bracket
–  for generator support
13 - Cylinder head gasket
–  replace → Chapter
–  Observe fitting position; inscription must be legible
14 - Cylinder head
–  removing and installing → Chapter
–  check for distortion → Fig.
–  after replacing fill entire system with fresh coolant
15 - Oil deflector
16 - 25 Nm
17 - Right lifting eye
18 - Gasket for cylinder head cover
–  replace if damaged
19 - Cylinder head cover
20 - Cap
–  fit on during installation work

Inspecting the cylinder head for distortion
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Straightedge
t  Feeler gauge
Max. permissible distortion: 0.05 mm
(minimum clearance of straightedge base: 100 mm)
If the distortion is greater than 0.05 mm, replace cylinder head, do not rework.
