Removing and installing camshaft
Removing and installing camshaft
1 - Tappet rod
–  Pay attention to fitting position: ball socket faces upwards
–  do not interchange
2 - Hydraulic tappets
–  with hydraulic valve clearance compensation
–  check → Chapter
–  use auxiliary tool to pull out of cylinder block → Fig.
–  do not interchange
–  lay aside with contact surface facing down
–  oil contact surface
3 - Cylinder block
–  Remove and install cylinder block → Chapter
–  Removing and installing the timing gear cover and chain sprockets → Chapter
4 - “O” ring
5 - Camshaft position sensor -G163-
6 - 8 Nm
7 - Camshaft
–  with timing segment for camshaft position sensor -arrow-
–  Camshaft setting → Fig.
8 - Woodruff key
–  check tightness
9 - Retaining plate of camshaft
10 - 5 Nm

Removing hydraulic tappet
–  Make auxiliary tool (wire) -2- as shown in illustration.
-a- 1.8...1.9 mm
–  Inset shop-made tool -2- in the tappet bore -1-, tilt slightly and pull tappet out of the guide in the cylinder block.

Camshaft setting
–  Insert chain sprockets -2- and -3- into the timing chain -1- so that the distance -a- (from marking to marking -arrows-) is 12 chain pins.
