Inspecting Throttle valve control unit J338 > < Meaning of the EPC warning lamp ( fault lamp for electric accelerator control K132 ) in the dash panel insert
Inspecting the electronic power control fault lampK132.
Inspecting the electronic power control fault lamp -K132-.
  Note
The electronic power control fault lamp -K132- is also called EPC warning lamp.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Adapter cable set (e.g. -V.A.G 1594 A-)
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/31-
Functional test of the warning lamp
–  Switch on ignition.
The EPC warning lamp must light up.
–  Start engine and run in idle.
The EPC warning lamp must go out if no fault related to the electronic throttle has been stored in the fault memory.
A - Electronic power control fault lamp -K132- does not light up
   
–  Connect the test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to the wiring loom on the engine control unit → Chapter.
Bridge bush 1 and 73 of the test box.
–  Switch on ignition.
The fault lamp must light up.
The fault lamp does not light up:
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Check dash panel insert → Electrical System → Rep. Gr.90.
If no fault is found:
–  Check the following cable connection for interruption or short-circuit to earth or positive:
  S24-0267

73 → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations

–  If necessary eliminate wire interruption or short-circuit.
If wiring is o.k.:
–  Replacing engine control unit → Chapter.
B - Electronic power control fault lamp -K132- remains lit
–  Interrogate the fault memory of engine control unit → Chapter.
If no fault is stored:
   
Connect the test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to the wiring loom on the engine control unit → Chapter.
–  Check the following cable connection for short-circuit to earth:
  S24-0267

73 → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations

–  if necessary eliminate short-circuit.
If wiring is o.k.:
–  Replacing engine control unit → Chapter.
