Check intake manifold temperature sender G72 > < Check fuel pump relay J17 and control.
Check intake manifold pressure senderG71

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hand multimeter (e.g. -V.A.G 1526 A-)
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/31-
t  Adapter cable set (e.g. -V.A.G 1594 A-)
Test sequence
   
–  Unplug connector -1- from intake manifold pressure sender -G71- with intake temperature sender -G72--2-.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Connect multimeter for voltage measurement in the following manner:
  S24-0272
Contact to connector plugSpecification 
3 + 4approx. 5 V 
3 + earthapprox. 5 V

If the specified values are reached:
–  Replace intake manifold pressure sender -G71- with intake manifold temperature sender -G72- → Chapter.
If the specified values are not reached:
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Connect the test box -V.A.G 1598/31 - to the wiring loom on the engine control unit → Chapter. The engine control unit is not connected.
–  Check wiring between the test box and the plug for interruption.

Cable resistance: max. 1.5 Ω
–  Check line to contact 4 for short-circuit to earth, to contacts 1 and 3 and to positive battery.
Specified value: ∞ Ω
If the lines are not found to be faulty:
–  Replacing engine control unit → Chapter.
