Silencer with hangers > < Removing and installing parts of the exhaust system

  Note
t  Always replace gaskets and self-locking nuts.
t  When performing installation work on the exhaust system, make sure the exhaust system is not mounted with pretension and has adequate clearance form the body. If necessary slacken the clamping sleeve(s) and collar clamp and align the silencer and exhaust pipe so as to create adequate clearance between these components and the vehicle body, and that the weight of the exhaust system is evenly distributed over the hangers.
   
1 - Hot air collector/shield
2 - 10 Nm
3 - Exhaust manifold with integrated pre-catalytic converter
4 - Gasket
q   replace
5 - 40 Nm
6 - Lambda probe after catalyst - G130 -, 50 Nm
q   coat the thread with hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3 -; hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3 - must not get into the slot of the probe body
q   use lambda probe wrench for removing and installing
q   test: → 1.4 ltr./55 kW Engine - Fuel Injection and Ignition System; Rep. Gr.24.
7 - to front silencer
8 - Identification
q   three times around the circumference
9 - Catalytic converter
q   check → Chapter
10 - Heat shield
11 - 10 Nm
12 - Front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter
13 - Flexible part of the front exhaust pipe
14 - 40 Nm
q   coat with hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3 -
15 - Gasket
q   replace
16 - Lambda probe before catalyst -G39-, 50 Nm
q   coat the thread with hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3 -; hot bolt paste -G 052 112 A3 - must not get into the slot of the probe body
q   use lambda probe wrench for removing and installing
q   test: → 1.4 ltr./55 kW Engine - Fuel Injection and Ignition System; Rep. Gr.24
