Installation occurs in reverse order. |
After installing the engine control unit, it is necessary to carry out the following steps: |

| Perform adaptation of the throttle valve control unit -J338 - → Chapter. |

| For vehicles with cruise control system: Activate the cruise control → Chapter. |

| On vehicles fitted with automatic gearbox: Learn kickdown operating point → Chapter. |

| Interrogate the fault memory of the new engine control unit and if necessary erase the fault memory → Chap. 01-1. |
Note Comply with the applicable safety instructions for test drives → Chap. 24-1. |
During the test drive the following operating conditions must be fulfilled: |

| The coolant temperature should rise beyond 80°C. |

| Once the temperature has been reached the following operating conditions must be reached a number of times: |
| Idling speed partial load enrichment full load trailing throttle |
t
| At “full load” engine speed must be increased to more than 3500 rpm. |

| Subsequently interrogate the fault memory of the engine control unit again. |
