Procedure

–	Connect vehicle system tester - V.A.G 1552- with the corresponding diagnostic cable.

Once the vehicle system tester has been connected:

–	Switch on ignition or start engine depending on the desired function → Chapter.

t	If the read-outs as shown in the work sequence are not displayed: → Operating instructions of the vehicle system tester.

t	If “data transfer errors” are displayed as a result of an incorrect entry, disconnect cable at vehicle system tester, plug it in again and repeat all the steps.

Operate the vehicle system tester by following the indication on the display:

–	Select the address word 01 for “Engine electronics” and confirm the entry with Q key.

The vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552 - displays the control unit identification, e. g.:

t	06A906033K = Part No. of control unit (for current control unit version see Parts List)

t	SIMOS 33 = system designation

t	1.6 l /2V= Displacement of engine and number of valves per cylinder

t	00 = number of set adaptation channels

t	HS = manual gearbox

t	3553 = software number

t	Coding 00231 = Coding of control unit

t	WSC XXXXX = Workshop code
