Connecting up the vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552 and selecting the control unit for engine electronics
Connecting up the vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- and selecting the control unit for engine electronics
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3-
Test conditions
l  Battery voltage at least 11 volts
l  Fuse 12 O.K.
l  Earth connections at front clutch housing or at cylinder head O.K.
Procedure
   
–  Connect vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3 -.
Once the vehicle system tester has been connected:
–  Depending on the desired function: Switch on the ignition or start the engine → Anchor, table “Available functions”.
  Note
t  If the read-outs as shown in the work sequence are not displayed: → Operating Instructions of vehicle system tester
t  If “Error in data transmission” is displayed because of an incorrect entry, unplug cable of vehicle system tester, plug in again and repeat all the steps.

Read-out on display:
  Note
Operate the vehicle system tester by referring to the read-out on the display.
–  Enter address word 01 for “Engine electronics” and confirm entry with the Q key.

Enter address word XX
The control unit identification appears in the display of the vehicle system tester (example):
t  032 906 014A = Control unit part No.
t  Marelli 1AVM = description of system and version
t  2162 = Programme number
–  Press → key.
