If the control unit detects a fault with a major incidence on the emission level the exhaust emissions warning lamp will light up or start flashing. |
The exhaust emissions warning lamp may either flash or remain lit. In any case the fault memory must be interrogated → Chap. 01-1. |
t
| Exhaust emissions warning lamp flashes: there is a fault on the vehicle that may damage the catalytic converter. Drive on under reduced engine power! |
t
| Exhaust emissions warning lamp lights up: there is a fault on the vehicle that no longer guarantees low exhaust gas emissions. Interrogate fault memory of the engine control unit or of the automatic gearbox control unit. |
t
| If there is incorrect driving behaviour, or if the customer complains and the exhaust emissions warning lamp is not lit, interrogate the fault memory, as a fault may have been stored that does not immediately cause the exhaust emission warning lamp to light up. |
