Procedure
–  Connect vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-. Switch ignition on and select address word 01 “Engine electronics” → Chap. 01-1.
–  Select function 04 “Initiate basic setting” and select display group 060.
After pressing key Q, the throttle valve positioner will be switched.
   
Check the specified values for the throttle valve positioner control unit in display fields 3 and 4.
Specified value display field 3: 8
Specified value display field 4: ADP runs, ADP o.k.
  Note
The abbreviation “ADP” in display field 4 stands for “Adaption”, which in fact means adaptation.
  Note
t  If the adaptation is aborted by the control unit, this may be due to the following reasons:
t  The throttle valve cannot be fully closed (e.g. dirty).
t  The battery voltage is too low.
t  The throttle valve control unit is defective or the wiring is N.O.K.
t  The engine was started during the adaptation or the accelerator pedal was pressed.
t  The throttle valve control unit housing is warped (check bolted connections).
t  After the abortion the vehicle system tester displays “function unknown or cannot be performed”. When the ignition is switched on again (a few seconds) the adaptation is automatically performed again.
–  End basic setting of the engine by pressing key .
