Removing and installing cylinder head
Removing and installing cylinder head
  Note
t  Always replace cylinder head bolts.
t  Always replace self-locking nuts.
t  When installing an exchange cylinder head with the camshaft installed, it is necessary to oil the contact surfaces between bucket tappets and the cam track after installing the head.
t  Do not remove the plastic bases supplied as a protection for the open valves until just before fitting on the cylinder head.
t  If the cylinder head is replaced, the system must be completely filled with fresh coolant.
t  Always replace the seals and gaskets during assembly work.
Removing and installing, tightening the timing belt → Chapter.
Testing compression pressure → Chapter.
   
1 - 10 Nm
2 - Cap
q   Replace seal if damaged
3 - Cylinder head cover
q   removing and installing → Chapter
4 - Gasket for cylinder head cover
q   replace if damaged or leaking
q   Check fitting position
5 - Oil separator
q   check fitting position: via inlet camshaft between cylinder 3 and 4
6 - Cylinder head
q   after replacing fill entire system with fresh coolant
q   Removing cylinder head → Chapter
q   Inspecting the cylinder head for distortion → Chapter
q   rework cylinder head → Chapter
q   Installing cylinder head → Chapter
7 - Replace gasket for bottom intake manifold.
q   replace
q   Check fitting position
8 - Cylinder head gasket
q   replace
q   metal gasket
q   check fitting position:
   Identification: part No. must be legible from the inlet side
9 - 45 Nm
10 - Tensioning pulley
11 - Washer
12 - Exhaust manifold gasket
q   replace
q   Check fitting position
13 - Cylinder head bolt
q   replace
q   pay attention to order for slackening → Chapter
q   pay attention to order for tightening → Chapter
