Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench
t  Locating bolts -T10060-
  Note
t  The figures 1 and 2 show the routing of the V-ribbed belt.
t  Mark the rotation direction before removing the V-ribbed belt. Reversing the rotation direction of an already used belt may destroy it. Pay attention to the correct position of the V-ribbed belt in the belt pulley when installing it.
t  Removing and installing AC compressor → Heating, Air Conditioning; Rep. Gr.87.

2 - Tensioning device for ribbed V-belt
q   swivel tensioning device for V-ribbed belt with open-end wrench to slacken the V-ribbed belt → Anchor
3 - Belt pulley
q   can be installed only in one position
4 - 25 Nm
5 - AC generator
q   Push back threaded bushes for retaining bolts slightly to more easily position the generator against the bracket
6 - 25 Nm
7 - Support
8 - 45 Nm
9 - 25 Nm
10 - Hollow screw, 30 Nm
11 - Gasket ring
q   replace
12 - Pressure line
13 - Gasket ring
q   replace
14 - Vane pump
q   for power-assisted steering
q   to facilitate the positioning of the hydraulic pump on the holder drive the threaded bushings of the retaining screws slightly backwards

15 - Belt pulley
q   for the vane pump on the power-assisted steering
16 - 25 Nm
17 - Fixing screw
q   Replace screw with firmness 8.8 with screw with firmness 10.9 → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
q   Screw with firmness 10.9: 40 Nm
q   It is not admissible to combine firmness
18 - V-ribbed belt
q   before removing mark running direction
q   check for wear
q   do not kink
q   routing of ribbed V-belt on vehicles without air conditioning → Fig.

q   remove ribbed V-belt → Anchor
q   install ribbed V-belt → Anchor

  Note
Engines fitted with an AC compressor are equipped with a double ribbed V-belt.
Removing the V-ribbed belt
  Note
Mark the rotation direction before removing the V-ribbed belt. Reversing the rotation direction of an already used belt may destroy it. Pay attention to the correct position of the V-ribbed belt in the belt pulley when installing it.

–  Swivel tensioning device in -direction of arrow- to slacken the V-ribbed belt and secure with locating bolts -T10060-.
  Note
The tensioning device can also be locked using a 3 mm hexagon wrench.
–  Remove the V-ribbed belt.
Installing the V-ribbed belt
  Note
Before installing the ribbed V-belt, ensure that all components (alternator, AC compressor, hydraulic pump) are properly installed.
–  Fit the ribbed V-belt.

–  Slacken ribbed V-belt tensioning device. Pull out locating bolts -T10060--arrows-.
–  Start engine and check belt run.
  Note
Engines fitted with an AC compressor are equipped with a double ribbed V-belt.
