  Note
t  If considerable quantities of metal swarf or abrasion is found in the engine oil when carrying out engine repairs, carefully clean the oil galleries in order to avoid consequential damage and additionally replace the oil cooler.
t  The engine oil level must never exceed the max. marking - risk of damage to catalytic converter!
t  Remove filler funnel on oil dipstick guide tube for extracting oil.
t  Inspecting oil pressure → Chapter.
Check the engine oil, amount of oil, oil specification: → Octavia
   
1 - 15 Nm
2 - 15 Nm
3 - Bracket at top
q   for cable of oil level and oil temperature sender -G266 -
4 - Sprocket
5 - Dipstick
q   oil level must not exceed max. marking
6 - Filler funnel
q   Remove for extracting oil
7 - Guide tube
8 - Oil injection nozzle
q   for piston cooling
9 - 25 Nm
q   replace without sealant
10 - O-ring
q   replace
11 - Intake manifold
q   Clean strainer if dirty
12 - Baffle
13 - Oil pan
–  removing and installing → Chapter
14 - Drain plug, 30 Nm
q   with integrated gasket ring
q   replace
15 - 10 Nm
16 - Oil level and oil temperature sender -G266-
q   only for vehicles with service interval extension
q   test → Electrical System; Rep. Gr.90
17 - Sealing ring
q   replace
18 - Oil pump
q   with pressure relief valve 1.2 MPa (12 bar)
q   before installing, check whether both dowel sleeves for centering the oil pump/cylinder block are inserted
q   if there is any scoring on contact surfaces and gears, replace
q   Tighening torque of oil pump cover at oil pump housing: 10 Nm
19 - Oil pump sprocket
q   Check fitting position
q   Fits onto oil pump shaft in one position only
20 - Bracket at bottom
q   for cable of oil level and oil temperature sender -G266 -
21 - 15 Nm
22 - 25 Nm
q   replace
23 - Oil pump chain
q   before removing mark running direction
q   check for wear
24 - Sealing flange on the belt pulley side
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Replace crankshaft seal on belt pulley side → Chapter
q   install with silicone sealant -D 176 404 A2-
25 - Chain tensioner, 15 Nm
q   do not disassemble
q   Replace chain tensioner if spring is broken.
q   Check fitting position
q   When installing, hook on the spring and pretension
