Removing and installing V-ribbed belt
Removing and installing V-ribbed belt
  Note
t  The figure shows the belt drive from vehicles with air conditioning system.
t  Mark the rotation direction before removing the V-ribbed belt. Reversing the rotation direction of an already used belt may destroy it. Pay attention to the correct position of the V-ribbed belt in the belt pulley when installing it.
1 - V-ribbed belt
–  removing and installing → Anchor
2 - 25 Nm
3 - Belt pulley for hydraulic pump
4 - Vane pump
–  removing and installing → Chassis; Rep. Gr.48
5 - 10 Nm + torque a further 1/4 turn (90°)
–  always replace
6 - Belt pulley
–  Installation is only possible in one position - holes are positioned opposite
7 - Tensioning element
–  up to 07.97
8 - Tensioning element with vibration damper
–  as of 08.97
9 - Support
–  for injection pump, generator, vane pump and AC compressor
10 - 45 Nm
11 - Generator
12 - Guide pulley
13 - AC compressor
–  Do not open refrigerant circuit
14 - Cover
15 - Hollow screw, 30 Nm
16 - Sealing ring

  A13-0048
Install AC compressor
–  To facilitate the positioning of the AC compressor drive the threaded bushings -B- for retaining screws -A- slightly backwards in the direction of the arrow.
–  Tighten screws to 45 Nm.
Removing the V-ribbed belt
  Note
On vehicles with air conditioning system, remove V-ribbed belt-guide pulley together with V-ribbed belt → Fig.
–  Remove bottom right noise insulation.
–  Remove the charge air pipe between the charge air cooler and the exhaust turbocharger → Chapter.
–  Position flat ring spanner SW 16 at hexagon of tensioning pulley.
  A87-0097
–  Swing the the tensioning pulley in the direction of the arrow detension the V-ribbed belt.
–  Remove the V-ribbed belt.
Installing the V-ribbed belt
–  Raise tensioning pulley for ribbed V-belt with flat ring spanner SW 16 and fit the ribbed V-belt.
