Actuator diagnosis
Actuator diagnosis
With the actuator diagnosis the following parts are activated in the sequence indicated:
1 - Exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18-
2 - AC compressor engagement
3 - Solenoid valve for charge pressure control -N75-
4 - Intake manifold flap motor -V157-1)
5 - Changeover valve for intake manifold flap -N239 -2)
6 - Glow period warning lamp -K29-
7 - Radiator fan control3)
8 - Glow plug relay -J52-
9 - Low heat output relay -J359-
10 - High heat output relay -J360-
11 - Fault lamp
   
1) on engine with identification characters AXR (with exhaust emission standard EU-4)
2) on engine with identification characters ATD (with exhaust emission standard EU-3)
3) only on vehicles with air conditioning and on vehicles with four-wheel drive

Test conditions for vehicles with an air conditioning system
l  Ambient temperature (above +15°C)
l  Air conditioning switched on
l  The lowest temperature and the highest blower level is selected.
  Note
t  The control of the individual actuators is limited to 30 s, however this can be extended by pressing and on vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-.
t  If final control diagnosis is to be repeated wirthout starting the engine in-between, switch ignition off for about 20 seconds.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3, 3A, 3B oder 3C-
