Checking the coolant system for tightness > < Removing and installing coolant pump

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench
t  Pliers for spring strap clamps
Removing
–  Drain coolant → Anchor.
   
–  Detach coolant hose from connection fitting -2-.
–  Unscrew bolts -1- and take off connection fitting -2- together with O-ring -3- and thermostat -4-.
–  Turn coolant regulator 1/4 turn (90°) and detach from connection fitting.
Install
–  Clean sealing surface for O-ring.
–  Replace O-ring and moisten with coolant.
–  Insert coolant thermostat into the connection fitting and turn 1/4 turn (90°) to the right. Check: The clamp of the coolant thermostat must be positioned virtually vertical.
–  Tighten screws -1- to 15 Nm.
–  Filling system with coolant → Anchor
Testing coolant thermostat
–  Heat up regulator in a water bath.

Installing coolant pipe
–  Clean sealing surface for O-ring or smoothen before installing.
   
–  Moisten O-ring -1- with coolant and slide onto coolant pipe -2-.
–  Push the coolant pipe into the bore hole on the cylinder block.
–  Tighten bracket for coolant pipe to 10 Nm.
