Testing mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve
Testing mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hand vacuum pump (e.g. -V.A.G 1390-)
Test sequence
–  Remove engine cover.
–  Detach air guide pipe between inlet connection and charge air cooler from inlet connection.
–  Disconnect vacuum hose from mechanical exhaust-gas recirculation valve.
   
–  Connect the hand vacuum pump (e. g. - V.A.G 1390-) to valve.
–  Operate pump and observe the diaphragm rod
t  The diaphragm rod must move in the -direction of the arrow-.
–  Detach hose of hand vacuum pump from exhaust gas recirculation valve.
t  The diaphragm rod must move back to its original position against the -direction of the arrow-.
