Replace gasket for distributor head
Replace gasket for distributor head
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Bracket -T30097/1 (T10108/1)-
–  Remove the injection pump → Chapter.
–  Unscrew the connection fitting for return flow and empty the injection pump into a catch pan by holding it with the return flow hole facing down.
   
–  Install bracket -T30097/1 (T10108/1)- on the injection pump flange and tighten screws -A- to 20 Nm.

–  Fasten the injection pump via the bracket -T30097/1 (T10108/1)- in a vice.
–  Remove retaining bracket -A-.

–  Cable from fuel shut-off valve -N109- incl. Remove bracket -B-.
–  Carefully loosen the fixing screws -arrows- of the distributor head crosswise and remove.
  WARNING
Never pull out the distributor head towards the top otherwise the thrust rollers will fall into the injection pump housing and subsequently a repair is not possible. In this case, the injection pump must be replaced.

–  Carefully pull the old gasket ring -arrow- which is now visible out of its slot using a suitable tool, cut open and remove.
  Note
While doing so, do not scratch the sealing surfaces.
–  First of all, place the new gasket ring behind the fuel shut-off valve -N109- and then carefully pull it over the distributor head and let it roll into the groove.
  WARNING
The subsequent tightening of the fixing screws of the distributor head must absolutely be carried out in very small steps, otherwise the distributor head may tilt within the injection pump. In this case, the renewed gasket ring is immediately damaged and leaking.
–  Screw in the fixing screws of the distributor head by hand and carefully screw back the distributor head crosswise in the fitting position on the injection pump housing in very small steps.
–  Tighten the fixing screws of the distributor head to 12 Nm.
–  Retaining bracket and the cable to the fuel shut-off valve -N109- incl. Install bracket again.
–  Installing the injection pump → Chapter.
