2.0 ltr./85 kW Engine, Fuel Injection and Ignition System > < Inspecting metal glow plugs
Test glow period warning lamp
Test glow period warning lamp
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3, 3A, 3B oder 3C-
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/22- or -V.A.G 1598/31-
t  Measuring tool set (e.g. -V.A.G 1594A-)
Test conditions
l  Fuse no. 29 o.k.
–  Perform an actuator diagnosis and actuate glow period warning light → Chapter.
   
Readout on display:
The warning light must flash.
If the warning light does not flash:
–  Connect test box to wiring loom to engine control unit → Chapter.
For the test box -V.A.G 1598/22-
–  Using an adapter cable from a measuring tool set interconnect the bush 1 and the bush 41 of the test box.
For the test box -V.A.G 1598/31 -
Using an adapter cable from a measuring tool set interconnect the bush 1 and the bush 42 of the test box.
For all vehicles
–  Switch on ignition.
The warning light must light up.
If the warning light does not light up:
–  If necessary eliminate wire interruption or short-circuit → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
Now the warning light lights up, but not during the actuator diagnosis:
–  Replacing engine control unit -J248- → Chapter.
