Test conditions
l  Coolant temperature at least 80 °C
l  Electrical consumers must be disconnected (the radiator cooling fan must be off during this test)
l  Air conditioning off
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3A, 3B oder 3C-
Test sequence
–  Connect vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- and select engine electronics control unit (address word 01). The engine must be idling for this step. (Connecting up the vehicle system tester and selecting the engine electronics control unit → Chapter).
   
Readout on display:
–  Enter 04 for the function “Basic setting” and confirm with Q.

–  Enter 000 for the display group “000” and confirm entry with the Q key.

Readout on display:
(1...10 = display fields)
Display group 000 in idle (engine warm, coolant temperature not below +85 °C)
This display group serves as the dynamic test of the start of pump delivery. The commencement of injection valve -N108- is always actuated, thus the injection timing device goes into “late”.
