Test needle lift sender G80
Test needle lift sender -G80-
The needle lift sender is necessary for determining the commencement of injection. If it fails, the commencement of injection is controlled (speed and load dependent), in normal mode the commencement of injection is controlled (speed, load and temperature dependent).
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Handheld multimeter (e.g. -V.A.G 1526 A-)
t  Measuring tool set (e.g. -V.A.G 1594 A-)
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/22- or -V.A.G 1598/31-
Test sequence
–  Switch off ignition.

–  Disconnect 2 pin plug connection -1- of injection pump.
–  Connect multimeter for resistance measurement at valve -2-.
Specified value: 80...120 Ω (when the engine is warm, the resistance can be up to 20 Ω higher)
If the specified value is not reached:
–  Replace injection nozzle of cylinder 3 with needle lift sender -G80-.
If the specified value is reached:
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22- or -V.A.G 1598/31- to wiring loom of engine control unit → Chapter.
–  Check el. wiring, if necessary eliminate open circuits in wiring or short-circuits according to current flow diagrams (plug -1-) → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
If the lines are not found to be faulty:
–  Replacing engine control unit -J248- → Chapter.
