| Adapt the engine control unit to the throttle valve control unit |
| When the engine control unit is adapted to the throttle valve control unit -J338- the engine control unit learns the stop positions of the throttle valve control unit when ignition is on and the engine switched off. |
| Adaptation must be performed if: |
| t
| the voltage supply has been interrupted |
| t
| the engine control unit was replaced |
| t
| the throttle valve control unit was replaced |
| t
| if another engine or another throttle valve control unit was installed |
| Special tools and workshop equipment required |
| t
| Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3, 3A, 3B oder 3C- |
| l
| There must not be any fault in the fault memory → Chapter. |
| l
| Battery voltage at least 11.5 V. |
| l
| All electrical consumers such as the lights and rear window heater must be switched off. |
| l
| If vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, this must be switched off. |
| l
| Throttle valve must be in the idling position. |
| l
| If the vehicle is equipped with cruise control, it must be correctly set. |
