Two types of telephone systems are available. Either as a complete telephone system or as a telephone pre-installation.
On vehicles fitted with telephone pre-installation there is the possibility later to retrofit mobile phones (portables). Mobile phones always require their own operating electronics, a so-called interface box, for operation in ŠKODA vehicles. This creates the link between the mobile phone and the components installed in the vehicle by means of a standardised VDA plug connection. The standard telephone from ŠKODA is connected to this VDA plug connection via a special interface box. Whatever type of interface box can be used for the telephones of other manufacturers, determine from the particular telephone manufacturer. Interface boxes without a VDA connector require an appropriate adapter (available e.g. from the company Votex).
An overview of the possible versions is presented in the next few pages.
