WARNING | Disconnect earth strap from the battery before commencing work on the electrical system. |

| Before disconnecting the battery determine the code of radio sets fitted with anti-theft coding. |

| The dash panel insert must not be disassembled. |

| It is not necessary to remove the steering wheel. For reasons of clarity the steering wheel is not shown in the following illustrations. |

| Before and after removing the dash panel insert, interrogate fault memory → Chapter if necessary → Chapter. |

| Read off the values of the service interval display and the kilometre reading of the distance counter -V.A.G 1552 - with the vehicle system tester and note → Anchor up to → Anchor, if necessary pages → Chapter and → Chapter. |

| If the battery earth strap is disconnected and re-connected, carry out additional operations → Chapter. |

| Adjust the steering wheel fully downwards with the adjustment installation. |

| Remove dash panel insert and disconnect plug connections. |
| –
| Installation is carried out in the reverse order. |
| –
| After installing, perform functional test. |
