Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Grease for plug serration of clutch disc -G 000 100-
t  Counterholder -MP1-223 (3067)-
t  Centering mandrel -MP3-475 (3190A)-

  Note
t  Observe the fault finding of the power transmission before replacing the clutch disc and the pressure plate - problems with the clutch and clutch control → Chapter.
t  Check whether the dowel sleeves for centering the engine/gearbox are present in the cylinder block; insert if necessary.
t  If the dowel sleeves are not present, this can result in difficulties to shift, clutch problems and if necessary noises from gearbox (gear rattling).
t  Replace the clutch discs and pressure plates if the riveting is damaged or loose.
t  Assign the clutch disc and pressure plate in accordance with engine identification characters → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts.
1 - The two-mass flywheel
q   make sure the centering pins are correctly fitted
q   The locating face for the clutch lining must be free from grooves, oil and grease
q   removing and installing → Engine → Rep. Gr.13
2 - Clutch disc
q   Assignment → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
q   pay attention to the correct fitting position, the shorter hub end -arrow- or the inscription “side of gearbox” points towards the pressure plate
–  center → Fig.
q   Lightly grease splines with grease for plug serration of clutch disc -G 000 100-
  Note
Clean the drive shaft serration and hub serration on used clutch discs. Remove corrosion and only apply a very thin layer of grease for plug serration of clutch disc -G 000 100- on the drive shaft serration. Subsequently move the clutch disc up and down on the drive shaft until the hub fits smoothly on the shaft. Remove all excess grease.
3 - Pressure plate
q   removing and installing → Fig.
q   Check the extremities of the membrane spring → Fig.
  Note
The pressure plates are protected against corrosion and are greased. Only clean the thrust surface as otherwise the life of the clutch may be considerably reduced.
4 - Screw
q   M6 = 13 Nm
q   M7 = 20 Nm
q   assign according to → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts
q   Release or tighten gradually and crosswise

Center the clutch disc and remove and install the pressure plate
–  Release and tighten screws gradually and crosswise.
–  Use centering mandrel -MP3-475- for centering.
  Note
The thrust surface of the pressure plate and the clutch disc lining must fully rest against the flywheel before the screws are inserted. Never tighten the pressure plate screws in the opposite direction, as otherwise the centering pins and centering holes may be damaged.
  S30-0034
Check the extremities of the membrane spring
l  Wear is allowed up to half the membrane spring thickness.
