Replace O-ring for shaft housing/Haldex coupling (final drive removed) Special tools and workshop equipment required t  Gearbox mount -MP3-501- or gearbox mount -T30109 (VW 353)- with retaining plate -T30108- t  Assembly stand -MP9-101- t  Locking agent -D 197 300 A1- t  2 screws M8 Removing

–  Clamp the rear final drive into the assembly stand.

–  Now unscrew all the fixing nuts for the secondary shaft housing -arrows-.   Note The figure only shows 3 nuts.

–  Remove the secondary shaft housing, to do so screw in the screws -A- evenly, so that the housing does not tilt.

–  Remove O-ring -A-. Install Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:

–  Insert O-ring with gearbox oil. –  Re-insert the adjusting washer(s) -B- with the same thickness.

–  Cover all the nuts -arrows- with locking agent -D 197 300 A1- and tighten crosswise in stages to tightening torque. –  Check the gear oil in the rear final drive → Chapter. –  Check oil level in Haldex coupling → Chapter, if necessary change oil in Haldex coupling → Chapter.
