| If considerable quantities of metal swarf or abrasion (caused by fretting damage such as damage to the crankshaft and conrod bearings) is found in the engine when carrying out engine repairs, it is necessary to determine the cause of the fretting damage and replace the damaged parts, then carefully clean the oil galleries and the oil chambers in order to avoid consequential damage. Further to careful cleaning of the oil galleries and the oil chambers it is also necessary to replace the oil cooler as well as the oil spray nozzles. |
