Removing and installing assembly carrier

Note

The assembly carrier is removed together with the door lock and window lifter.

WARNING

Disconnect the earth strap from the battery before commencing work on the electrical system → Electrical System → Rep. Gr.27.

–	Removing door trim panel → Chapter.

–	Removing the door handle → Chapter.

–	Release cap -1-.

–	Lower door window until adjusting pin -2- and straddling dowel -3- can be reached in the assembly carrier opening.

–	Screw an M5 (about 70 mm long) into straddle pin -2-.

–	Pull the straddle pin -2- with the screw from the straddling dowel -3-.

–	Screw an M8 screw (approximately 80 mm long) into the straddling dowel -3-.

Note

Do not use excessive force when screwing the screw into the straddling dowel as it may fall into the door.

–	Withdraw the straddling dowel from the window lifter guide and hence from the door window pane.

–	Push door window upwards and secure (e.g. with adhesive tape).

–	Release screws -1- (20 Nm).

–	Release screws -arrows-. Bend away the assembly carrier from the door.

–	Disconnect plug connection from the door lock.

–	Release the cable harness from the assembly carrier and pull out the cable ducts.

–	Loosen the lock and assembly carrier and carefully take them out of the door.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order; pay attention to the following points:

–	Insert straddling dowel -1- and adjusting pin -2- in the door window pane.

–	Insert the door window pane -3- into the window lifter guide -4-.

–	Gently tap the top of the pane to lock the pane, the straddling dowel and the adjusting pin into the window lifter -arrow-.

Note

Additional operations should be carried out after the battery earth strap has been connected → Electrical System → Rep. Gr.27.
