Adjusting the secondary shaft and crown wheel > < Removing and installing reverse gear

Removing
–  Turn steering to full left lock.
   
–  Remove cover plate over the right drive shaft -arrows 1 und 2-.
–  If present, remove the cover plate over the left drive shaft.
–  Position catch pan underneath.
–  Unscrew the drive shaft from the flange shaft.
–  Tie up the drive shaft as far as possible. Avoid damaging the paintwork on the drive shaft during this operation.
If replacing the left gasket ring:
  S34-1119
–  Remove the flange shaft, to do so tighten the extractor -T10037- on the cover of the final drive -arrow-.
If replacing the right gasket ring:
  A39-0306
–  Remove flange shaft, to do so tighten the extractor -T10037- at the gearbox housing -arrow-.
  A39-0307
–  Always replace circlip for flange shaft.
–  Secure the flange shaft in a vice fitted with protective jaws. Push out the old circlip from the flange shaft groove with the new circlip -A-.
–  Pull out seal ring for flange shaft with ejection lever -MP3-418-.
