Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Gasket ring extractor -T30003-
t  Insertion sleeve -MP 1-228-
t  Assembly device -T10071-
t  Screw M8 x 60
Removing
  Note
t  The PTFE gasket rings are arranged to the turning direction of the shafts (see arrow marking on the gasket ring). An incorrect turning direction leads to loss of oil.
   
t  The gasket rings on the belt pulley side have the turning direction „right“-arrow 1-. The gasket rings on the gearbox side have the turning direction „left“-arrow 2-.
–  Removing toothed belt → Chapter.
–  Remove camshaft sprockets.
–  Turn inner part of gasket ring extractor -T30003- two turns (approx. 3 mm) out of the outer part and lock with knurled screw.

–  Oil the thread head of the gasket ring extractor, position and forcely screw into the gasket ring as far as possible.
–  Slacken knurled screw and turn inner part of gasket ring extractor against the camshaft until the gasket ring is pulled out.
Install
  Note
Do not oil the sealing lip and the outer surface of the gasket ring before the pressing in procedure.
–  Use a clean cloth to remove oil residues on the crankshaft journal.
–  Slide the dry gasket over the cone of the camshaft.

–  Press the gasket ring into the cylinder head flush using the insertion sleeve -MP 1-228/1- and screw -MP 1-228/6-.
The further assembly is carried out in reverse order to disassembly.
–  Installing the timing belt → Chapter.
