Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vacuum tester e.g. -V.A.G 1368-
t  Hand vacuum pump, e.g. -V.A.G 1390- or hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213-
Test sequence
–  Remove the front right wheelhouse liner → Body Work; Rep. gr.66.
   
–  Remove the ventilation line -2- from the activated charcoal filter -1- on the solenoid valve.
–  Connect the vacuum tester e.g. -V.A.G 1368- -connection „A“- with the ventilation line -2- to the activated charcoal filter.
–  Connect the hand vacuum pump to the connection „B“.
–  Move vacuum tester into position „A/B“.
–  Operate the hand vacuum pump -V.A.G 1390- several times. No vacuum should build up.
If a vacuum builds up.
–  Check the ventilation hose -5- on the activated charcoal filter -1- for dirt and clean as required.
If no vacuum builds up:
–  Close lines -5- and -6-.
–  Operate the hand vacuum pump -V.A.G 1390- several times. A vacuum should build up.
If no vacuum builds up:
–  Replace activated charcoal filter system -1- with pressure holding valve -4-.
