Ensure that all of the hoses are not pinched between or bent around objects that could cause the hose to be pinched or kinked. On SIA-produced Legacy
vehicles the battery protector tray will have to be modified (see Figure 2). By cutting the side of the tray you will protect against the possibility of the
hoses being pinched between the coolant overflow bottle and this tray. One other concern would be if someone had installed an after-market battery and
the casing size was larger, his also would cause the hoses to be pinched between the coolant overflow bottle and the battery, even when no battery
protector is used (FHI produced Legacy vehicles). In this case, a Subaru battery should be installed.
